Traveler’s appetite is horrendous, yet he’s lost so much weight and muscle tone in the last 3+ months you’d take one look at him and might think he was a 25yo senior horse. He just looks tired… With the low quality of hay I have, and the fact that he needs to gain some serious weight, I made the decision to put him on Senior feed. Read the rest of this entry »

Day 13.

Something’s wrong.

About a week ago I noticed Traveler dragging his back legs (both). That in its own wasn’t what freaked me out, but the fact that I had to put his 22yo mother down last year and we’re still not 100% sure what happened. The vet’s diagnosis was Tetanus, as I had been a bad mommy and hadn’t had her booster in a few years, and she ended up with a nail in her foot. Tell-tale signs of tetanus, leaning, 3rd eyelid, circling, etc. However, some of those symptoms fall in line with EPM too, and I suppose it could have been that because she didn’t recover with the tetanus anti-toxin. Perhaps had I known more about EPM then, I would have attempted a round of Marquis. So seeing my boy have similar symptoms (not wanting to move his back legs), I freaked out.
